śūdro 'pi parayā bhaktyā pāṣaṇḍālāpavarjitaḥ
somāya varadāyātha viṣṇave ca namo namaḥ //
The Śudra also may observe this Vrata with extreme devotion, freeing himself from the company of all unbelievers, and should devoutly salute the Gods, Moon and Viṣṇu, with the following mantra, instead of the Vedic one :—Somâya Varadâyâtha Viṣṇave cha namo namaḥ.—6.
