purā rathaṃtare kalpe paripṛṣṭo mahātmanā
mandarastho mahādevaḥ pinākī brahmaṇā svayam //
The Lord said :—In the past, during the Rathantara Kalpa, Brahmâ asked Śiva on the summit of the Mandarâchala Mountain.—1.
