*ṛṣaya ūcuḥ
ādisargaśca yaḥ sūta kathito vistareṇa tu
pratisargaśca ye yeṣām adhipās tānvadasva naḥ //

The Ṛiṣis said:—O Sûta! We have heard with concentrated attention what you have been pleased to relate to us; now we feel desirous to know the lives of the kings that flourished at each order of creation.—1.
