vaiśampāyanam āsīnam apṛcchacchaunakaḥ purā
sarvakāmāptaye nityaṃ kathaṃ śāntikapauṣṭikam //

Sûta said:—In the days gone by, Śaunaka asked Vaiśampâyana, who was seated at his leisure, to explain to him the ways of the acquirement of all desires by the performance of Śânti and Puṣṭi rites.—1.
