yathā bāṇaprahārāṇāṃ kavacaṃ bhavati vāraṇam
tadvaddaivopaghātānāṃ śāntirbhavati vāraṇam //
As the armour shields the warrior from the blows of arrows, similarly, the propitiation ceremony (śânti) protects them from the effects of the bad destiny.—81.
