*nandikeśvara uvāca
śṛṇuṣvāvahito brahman vakṣye māheśvaraṃ vratam
triṣu lokeṣu vikhyātā nāmnā śivacaturdaśī //

Nandikeśvara said:—Hear with attention, O Brâhmaṇa! I shall tell you the Mâheśvara vrata. It is well-known in all the three worlds by the name of Śiva Chaturdaśî.—5.
