nobhūmirna jalaṃ cāgnirna vāyurna nabhastadā..
nāhaṃkāro na ca mahānmūlāvidyā tathaiva ca..
śivasya kopātsaṃjātaṃ tadā bhasmākulaṃ jagat.. 9.113 ..

There was no earth, no water, no fire, no wind, and no space then; / there was no ego-sense, no cosmic intellect, and likewise no primal ignorance. / From the wrath of Śiva, the universe then became a mass of ashes.
