daityāste niḥśrikā jātā ye śriyā'navalokitāḥ.. 11.70 ..
Gazed upon by that Lakṣmī, the gods were endowed with fortune, / and instantly became marked with the signs of sovereignty; / those daityas who were not looked upon by Lakṣmī became devoid of fortune.
