18. In the battle between the Lord of Wealth and Jambha, when Jambha is killed by the Lord of Wealth, the Lord of Wealth fights with Kujambha and the Lord of Wealth is defeated; then in the battle between Kujambha and Nirṛti, upon Nirṛti's defeat, Varuṇa binds Kujambha's two arms with his noose; then, when Mahiṣāsura prepares to swallow Nirṛti and Varuṇa, the Moon, by spreading cool rays, causes great distress to all the Daityas through extreme cold; then, seeing the removal of cold effected by Kālanemi spreading fiery flames, the Sun discharges an arrow infused with the Śambara weapon and, through illusory power, inverts the appearances of the gods and the Dānavas; and bewildered by this, Kālanemi slays countless Daityas themselves, mistaking them for gods. .. 109
