Chapter 18: The seizing by an alligator of Citrāṅgada, a great committer of sin, when he entered the water afflicted by thirst; then the throwing into hell of the sinner Citrāṅgada by Yama's messengers; the attainment of comfort by the beings residing there by the throwing of Citrāṅgada into hell; then, seeing the wonder, Yama looked with the eye of knowledge and, reflecting in his mind, 'Because of his taking a bath in my sacred ford and attaining death right there, he is not one to share in the suffering of the world of hell,' liberated him from hell; then the departure of Citrāṅgada to heaven in an aerial chariot surrounded by a host of apsarases; description of the māhātmya of the Yamatīrtha.
