rājā vṛkṣo brāhmaṇāstasya mūlaṃ paurāḥ parṇaṃ mantriṇastasya śākhāḥ ..
tasmādrājñā brāhmaṇā rakṣaṇīyā mūle gupte nāsti vṛkṣasya nāśaḥ .. 82 ..
The king is a tree, the brahmins are its root, the citizens are the leaves, and the ministers are its branches. / Therefore, brahmins must be protected by the king; when the root is protected, there is no destruction of the tree.
