9 Śiva explains the reason he wears a garland of severed heads; Śiva declares that Brahmā, Viṣṇu, and the rest are born from him in every kalpa; though ten million kalpas have passed, Śiva resides eternally in the holy kṣetra named Prabhāsa; hearing those words of Śiva, the Goddess praises Śiva in wonder; pleased by that hymn of praise, Śiva gives a boon to Pārvatī saying, 'I will tell you the māhātmya of the liṅgas located in the Prabhāsa-kṣetra from beginning to end'; Pārvatī asks questions concerning the ten incarnations of Viṣṇu beginning with Matsya; then Śaṃkara describes the dwelling of Brahmā and the others in Prabhāsa; description of the abode of Hari.
