tataśca nyavasattatra tapaḥ kartuṃ saharṣibhiḥ ..
ūrddhvapādāḥ sthitā viprāḥ pītvā dhūmamadhomukhāḥ ..
śuṣkapatrāśanāścānye anye vai phalabhojanāḥ .. 112 ..

And then he dwelt there to perform austerity together with the seers. / Brahmins stood with feet raised upward, drinking smoke with their heads turned down; / others ate dried leaves, while others fed on fruits;
