"The lord of the universe is difficult to attain, like the Malaya breeze;
3.2.14.121
kathaṃ vā bodhyatāṃ bahmannasmābhiḥ surapūjitaḥ .. 53 ..
how can he, worshipped by the gods, be awakened by us, O Brahmā?
3.2.14.122

I have no need of a sacrifice, nor indeed of the gods;

"So be it," said Brahmā also, and the termite set to work.

This is a wonder, O brahmin-seer, truly, O son of Satyavatī!

na jāne kena kāryeṇa viṣṇumāyāvimohitāḥ .. 58 ..
I do not know for what reason—deluded by the illusory power of Viṣṇu.
3.2.14.135
muditāstāḥ pramuñcaṃti valmīkaṃ cāgrato hareḥ ..
Rejoicing, they released the anthill before Hari;
3.2.14.136

then the anthill, resembling a mountain, was brought to the edge of the bow-tip.
3.2.14.137

jyāghātakoṭibhiḥ sārddhaṃ śīrṣaṃ chittvā divaṃ gatam .. 3.2.14.60 ..
along with the recoil of the bow-tip the head was severed and went to heaven.
3.2.14.139
gate śīrṣe ca te devā bhṛśamu dvignamānasāḥ ..
When the head was gone, those gods, their minds greatly distressed,
3.2.14.140
