kuśabdena smṛtā bhūmiḥ saṃsiktā cāśruṇā yataḥ ..
tatoṃ'ḍāni ca jātāni tebhyo jātā amī ghanāḥ ..
kūṣmāṃḍā iti vikhyātā bhaviṣyaṃti jagattraye .. 112 ..

“Since the earth is called ku, and it was sprinkled with tears, / eggs were born from it, and from them these dense beings were born; / they will be renowned in the three worlds as Kūṣmāṇḍas.”
