ekavarṣasahasrāṃtaṃ yāvadyuddhamavartata ..
dinedine kṣayaṃ yāṃti tatra devā na dānavāḥ ..
tato varṣasahasrāṃte saṃkruddhaḥ śaśiśekharaḥ..
triśūlena samudyamya svahastena vyabhedayat .. 6 ..

The battle continued until the end of a thousand years; / day by day the gods perished there, not the Dānavas. / Then, at the end of the thousand years, the moon-crested god, greatly enraged, / raised up his trident with his own hand and impaled [him]. 6
