baka uvāca..
eṣa mārkaṃḍasaṃjño'tra prasiddho bhuvanatraye..
maheśvaraprasādena saṃsiddhiṃ paramāṃ gataḥ..
dvitīyo'sau suhṛccāsya kaścinno vedmi tattvataḥ..
mārkaṃḍena samāyātaḥ suhṛdā va mamāṃtikam..132..

The crane said: / "This one here is named Mārkaṇḍa, renowned in the three worlds; / by the grace of Maheśvara he attained the supreme perfection. / The second is his friend, whom I do not know in truth; / he has come near me with his friend Mārkaṇḍa.
