śṛṇu te'haṃ pravakṣyāmi dīrghāyurme yathā sthitam..
maheśvaraprasādena bilvapatrārcanānmayā..
ulūkatvaṃ mayā prāptaṃ bhṛgoḥ śāpānmahātmanaḥ..139..

The owl said: / "Listen, I shall tell you how my long life came to be: / by the grace of Maheśvara, through my worship with bilva leaves; / [and] owl-hood was obtained by me through the curse of the noble Bhṛgu."
