saptajanmakṛtaṃ pāpaṃ hitvā yāti śivālayam .
śrāddhaṃ kṛtvā vidhānena pitḥṇāmanṛṇī bhavet .
brāhmaṇān bhojayecchaktyā tebhyo dadyācca dakṣiṇām .. 226.21 ..

casting away the sin committed across seven births, goes to the abode of Śiva.
Having performed a śrāddha according to the rule, he becomes debt-free to the ancestors;
he should feed brahmins according to his means and give them a priestly gift.
