praṇamya labhate pārtha phalaṃ kṛcchrabhavaṃ sudhīḥ .
tīrthe mukhyaphalaṃ snānāddvitīyaṃ cāpyupoṣaṇāt .. 227.62 ..

and by bowing down, O Pārtha, an intelligent person obtains the fruit of an arduous penance. / The foremost fruit at a sacred ford comes from ritual ablution, and the second from fasting;
