prājāpatyaṃ tato labdhvā prajāḥ sraṣṭuṃ pracakrame .
prajāstāḥ sṛjyamānāśca na vivardhanti2 tasya ha . . 1 . .
sa kurvāṇastathā sṛṣṭiṃ śaktihīnaḥ pitāmahaḥ .
sṛṣṭyarthaṃ bhūya evātha tapaścartuṃ pracakrame . .2 . .

Having obtained the office of Prajāpati, he then set about creating creatures. / Yet the creatures being created by him did not multiply. / Producing creation in that manner, the grandfather, devoid of power, / then set about once again to perform austerity for the sake of creation.
