āsīnamāsane puṇye ṛṣayaḥ saṃśritavratāḥ11 .
papracchu12rudbhavaṃ kṛtsnaṃ13 jagataḥ pralayantathā ..6. .
sthitiñca kṛtsnāṃ14 vaṃśāṃśca yugamanvantarāṇi ca .
vaṃśānucaritaṃ kṛtsnaṃ divyamānaṃ tathaiva ca . .7 ..

seated on a holy seat, the seers, committed to their vows, / questioned him about the entire origin of the world and its dissolution, / its entire maintenance, the lineages, the ages and manvantaras, / the whole history of genealogies, and the divine measure of time;
