jyeṣṭhamūlaṃ tu yo māsamekabhaktaṃ samācaret .
bhrātṝṇāṃ bhavati jyeṣṭho bhogaṃ prāpnoti puṣkalam . .7.. .
āṣāḍhaṃ cāpi yo māsamekabhaktaṃ samācaret7 .
sa rājño mānyatāṃ prāpya kāmānāpnoti puṣkalān . .8. .
śrāvaṇe cāpi yo māse tathā caivācarennaraḥ .
senāpatyaṃ sa saṃprāpya balavānabhijāyate . .9..

Whoever practices eating only once a day throughout the month of Jyeṣṭha, / becomes the foremost among brothers and attains abundant enjoyment. . . 7 . .
And whoever practices eating only once a day throughout the month of Āṣāḍha, / gaining honor from the king, he attains abundant desires. . . 8 . .
And if a man conducts himself likewise in the month of Śrāvaṇa, / attaining the post of army commander, he is born strong. . . 9 . .
