andhaka uvāca
keyaṃ sumadhyamā hyatra rūpeṇāpratimā śubhā .
nedṛśī dṛṣṭapūrvā me kadācidapi dānavāḥ . .4. .
divi vā bhuvi vāgatya paśyataināṃ sumadhyamām .
yadi nāma iyaṃ bhāryā kasyeyaṃ patirīśvaraḥ . .5 . .
ko vāhaṃ kiṃ ca jīvāmi satyametadvaco mama .
yasyeyaṃ yuvatī bhāryā cārucitrāyatekṣaṇā . .6. .
svargavāsena kiṃ tasya subhagasya mahātmanaḥ .
mithyārājyamidaṃ guhyaṃ yasyeyaṃ me na kāminī.. 7..

Andhaka said: / 'Who is this slender-waisted lady here, incomparable in beauty, auspicious? / Never before have I seen such a woman, O dānavas! // Look at this slender-waisted one who has come [either] in heaven or on earth! / If she is indeed a wife, whose is she, and who is her lord husband? // Who am I, and why do I live? This word of mine is true: / He whose youthful wife this is, possessing lovely, splendid, long eyes, // what need has that fortunate, great-souled one of dwelling in heaven? / This secret kingdom is false for me, as long as this woman is not my beloved!
