sanatkumāra uvāca
tasya tvanumate vyāsa6 aṃśumān sa narādhipaḥ .
pānīyamupacakrāma teṣāṃ dātuṃ mahāmanāḥ ..7. .
vainateyastamāhedaṃ svasrīyāṇāṃ mamodakam .
na dātavyaṃ mahābāho naitatteṣāṃ7 gamiṣyati . .8..

Sanatkumāra said: / With his permission, O Vyāsa, that king Aṃśumat, / the high-minded one, set about offering water for them. / The son of Vinatā said to him: "Water for my nephews / must not be offered [in this manner], O mighty-armed one; this will not reach them."
