sanatkumāra uvāca
te taṃ kruddhamivālakṣya yugāntānalasaprabham .
durnirīkṣyaṃ tadā vyāsa devīṃ śaraṇamāgatāḥ51 ..59. .
devā ūcuḥ
sadevatānāṃ lokānāṃ jananyasi vibhāvari .
atosi bhastrā rudrāṇi yaccha nobhayadaṃ padam ..8.127.60..

Sanatkumāra said: / Seeing him appearing enraged, glowing like the fire at the end of the world-age, / hard to look upon, then, O Vyāsa, they took refuge with the Devī. / The gods said: / "You are the mother of the worlds together with their deities, O radiant one! / Therefore you are our protectress, O Rudrāṇī; grant us the station that gives fearlessness!
