Thousands of Pramathas, yogins of terrifying deeds, / march before him, just like your Dānavas before you. // 20 // / He who could rob the sun of its brilliance, the moon of its loveliness, the earth of its patience, / or Vāsuki of his fang—he might rob him of Pārvatī! // 21 // / The whole head of him shall shatter into a hundred fragments, / whatever fool would insult that noble wife of Śarva. // 22 // / What you were told back then by the grandfather, born from the lotus, / at the end of the granting of the boon—you ought to remember those words: // 23 // / 'This fortune, O son of Diti, which was granted by me, so very hard to attain— / through your own bad conduct alone, O Dānava, it will pass elsewhere.' // 24 // / Those who, gripped by folly, do not listen to the words of kinsmen / that are wholesome though bitter, those men go to their doom. // 25 // / We shall approach the god Śaṃkara for your sake; / having met [in battle], we shall all meet together in the abode of Yama." // 26 // / Addressed thus with wholesome words by that kinsman, / he, impelled by time, said laughing, "It is not so! // 27 // / In this unavoidable matter, whether proper or improper, which is dear to me, / if there should be destruction for me in battle, even destruction is my victory. // 28
