always unregarded in the world, so that one may never decay;
and attaining the supreme yoga, which is the highest among yogas,
than which there is nothing greater, six-limbed, fulfilling all desires,
liberated by which a yogin falls no more into death and the like.
Attaining that yoga, perfected by divine action,
the great yogin is not smeared by deeds done or undone.”
Sanatkumāra said:
Thus commanded by the God of gods, the heaven-dwellers,
having completed that severe observance, became attendants of Śaṃkara.
Attaining the status of attendants of that trident-bearing God,
deeply suffused with austerity, they favored that region.
The gods said:
“Because our preparatory rite was well practiced here to its completion,
therefore this is known as the secret sanctuary of Maheśa.”
