vṛtramuktastu30 gaṇapaḥ śaṃkukarṇo mahābalaḥ .
yoddhukāmaḥ punarvṛtraṃ nivṛtto31 hastirāḍiva . .2 9. .
tataḥ punaḥ siṃharavāḥ samantāt32 tasminbale dundubhinisvanāśca .
he śaṃkukarṇeti ca sādhuvādo manoharastasya raṇe babhūva . . 8.140.30 . .

Released by Vṛtra, the mighty gaṇa-chief Śaṃkukarṇa, / eager to fight Vṛtra again, turned back like a king of elephants.
Then again on every side in that army arose lion-roars / and the beating of kettle-drums, and the delightful praise, "Hail, Śaṃkukarṇa!", resounded in the battle.
