Vyāsa said: / The illusory power and the strength of Andhaka, enemy of the gods, / had been created fully by the Blessed One, caused by [his] divine form. / When the sage Bhārgava was swallowed into his body by the god, / what did he do there inside the body of the God of gods? / And how did that twice-born son of Bhṛgu emerge, / by the power of austerity and the power of yoga, like the moon from a white cloud? / This curiosity has arisen in me today, O best of sages: / recount the deeds of Īśāna and of the wise Bhārgava. / Sūta said: / Thus addressed by Vyāsa, the lord Sanatkumāra, son of the lotus-born [Brahmā], / related the emergence of Śukra from Śiva. / Inside the body of Śambhu at that time, Śukra, stripped of his luster, / wandering about seeking an opening, was homeless like the wind.
