iti skandapurāṇe gaṇayuddhe tricatvāriṃśaduttaraśatatamodhyāyaḥ49

Somanandin, Nandin, the attendant Nandiṣeṇa, / Prabhāmaya, Vīrabhadra, Sūryāpyāyana, / Pañcākṣa, Kopapāla, Trinetra, Piṅgalekṣaṇa, / Rākṣasa, Piṅgala, who roars from his abode in the cremation grounds, / Ghaṇṭākarṇa, Śaṅkukarṇa, the mighty Kuṇḍodara, / Airāvatamukha, Annapāla, Kapāladhṛk, / and Vināyaka himself with his long, stout trunk— / these and other gaṇa leaders, called forth in the hundreds by the hosts, / entered to burn the Dānavas, as fires burn dry trees. / Surrounding Viṭpati, all roaring like young lordly elephants, / with tridents, discus-weapons, arrows, and bhuśuṇḍi guns in hand, the leaders of the gaṇas, minded for battle, advanced. / Then between them there arose close combat, fierce in battle, / like that of rut-maddened bull elephants gathered with cow elephants in the forests. / Beholding that great battle of the Dānavas with the gaṇa leaders, the gods / moved through the sky in celestial aerial chariots, uttering lion-roars and clapping their hands.
Thus ends the one hundred and forty-third chapter in the Skandapurāṇa, on the battle of the gaṇas.
