7.16.24_115

yathopapannamannaṃ tu bhojayitvā dvijottamān .
puṇyāhaṃ kārayitvātha ṛtvijā hyathavātmanā62 ..61. .
tṛptānāṃ brāhmaṇānāṃ ca tattvenākūta63mātmanaḥ .
nivedya paramuddiśya sadbhāvena pareṇa ha ..62. .
aputrā bhagavantohaṃ64 putraprakṛtakaṃ65 tarum .
grahīṣye tadanujñāṃ vai kartu66 marhatha menaghāḥ ..63..

and having fed the best of the twice-born with available food,
and having an auspicious-day declaration performed by the family priest or by herself,
having declared in truth her own intention to the satisfied brahmins
with supreme devotion, directing it toward the highest end:
‘I am childless, O venerable ones; I will take this tree
as an adoptive son. You ought to grant me your permission, O sinless ones.’
