Having received worship resembling that given to Rudra from the lord of the thirty [gods], / the one of immeasurable soul sat near Śakra on an excellent seat. / Attending upon him who was seated, the subduer of enemies who performed a hundred sacrifices, / drinking [him in] with his thousand eyes, did not reach satiety. / […] / Then the enemy of Vṛtra and Bala, with joy, asked Nandī, who was radiant as the sun: / "Why have you come after so long a time?" / Thus addressed by the god who dwells in heaven, the bearer of the thunderbolt, / he who was scented with mandāra blossoms spoke without hesitation: / "The daughter of the mountain will adopt the little aśoka tree as her son; / the Lord of beings, the god, invites you there along with the immortals.
