The subtle form is unmanifest, while the coarse is characterized by shape. / Beginning from the coarse, one should discern the subtle through the practice of meditation.
From the fixation upon the subtle, a radiant light arises, O sage. / But for one meditating on a coarse target, the mind wanders in all directions;
when it arises radiant, he should immediately steady it once more. / On a mountain, on a tree, on the path of the wind, in a chasm, in a row of palaces,
on the ocean, or on the earth, he should practice union of the mind.
