In the form of a wife, she, Prakṛti, constantly worships Śambhu. / Prakṛti is indeed known as the perishable (kṣara), while Īśvara himself is the imperishable (akṣara).
For she, Prakṛti, who binds through the guṇas, came forth from Īśvara; / Mahādeva is her creator, from whom Viṣṇu and the Grandfather arose
as the two lords of creatures bound by the three guṇas. / Pervading those two who abide in Prakṛti and consist of the guṇas, Maheśa,
abiding in the syllable 'M', having become the omnipresent lord, experiences and moves about. / Having understood this supreme secret, the imperishable reality has been spoken by me.
By whichever meditating sage, O Vyāsa, this Īśvara is conceptualized, / that sage, having entered him, becomes liberated in soul and fulfilled.
Those who are not on the true path, dedicated [only] to logic and inference, do not know him, / the enjoyer of Prakṛti, the supreme Lord designated as the twenty-sixth [principle].
Oṃkāra is Prakṛti eternally, and within it Īśvara is situated, / just as ghee is situated within milk, O Vyāsa.
By one who meditates on Oṃkāra, having transcended Prakṛti, O sage, / and has known that great Īśvara, he is freed from the bonds of beasts (paśu).
Prakṛti is called Īśvarī; she causes delusion through the bondage of the guṇas. / Due to the nature of Brahman she expands, and due to the nature of Viṣṇu she resorts to pervasive power.
By the grace of Īśvara, this Prakṛti, consisting of the three guṇas, / possessed of ego, is the creator of the world; Maheśvara is her enjoyer.
Eight-armed and three-footed, she has five bodies and faces; / two-eyed, engaged in the five actions, mounted on a chariot drawn by seven horses,
