I shall declare to you, Vyāsa, since you are devoted to Śaṅkara, / which other yogins do not know, which is secret and most wonderful,
which, apart from the perfected Pāśupatas, does not exist among beings. / The mind, intellect, ego, sense organs, and the triad of guṇas
do not touch that self; his transformations are external. / Then he is seen everywhere, yet he is not seen by everyone;
he is seen thus only through meditation, by no other means whatsoever. / Beyond all states of existence and guṇas, well-meditated upon, the Supreme Lord—
those yogins who perceive him through knowledge are remembered as supreme. / But this shadow which is seen, dwelling in the domain of the eye,
that is declared as the living soul, O Vyāsa, the cause of embodied beings' stability. / In that resides that supreme Self, subtle, situated in the middle, imperishable. / The wind that moves in the space [of the heart] is known by the name Mahānāga.
