umā tāsāṃ variṣṭhā ca śreṣṭhā52 ca varavarṇinī .
mahāyogabanopetā mahādevamupasthitā ..3 3 . .
dattakaścośanāstasyāḥ53 putraḥ sa bhṛgunandanaḥ .
asitasyai54 kavarṇā tu devalaṃ suṣuve sutam . .34..

Among them, Umā is the most excellent and the eldest, fair-complexioned, / possessed of the power of great yoga, who attended upon Mahādeva. / And Uśanas, that son of Bhṛgu, became her adopted son. / Ekaparṇā, however, gave birth to a son, Devala, [begotten] by Asita.33-34
