The God of gods, sporting on Mandara, coming to Mount Vindhya at the request of Pārvatī, and there, having concentrated through yoga in a great city created by his mind, beginning great amorous dalliance with her. The gods, terrified upon seeing great portents caused by that, coming to the Vindhya and sending Fire as an invisible envoy into his presence to see Śaṃkara. Fire's entry inside there through the favor of Nandin. At Fire's petition, the God of gods silently emerging from the great amorous dalliance and granting a vision to the gods. The gods' petition for Śambhu's cessation from lovemaking in order to avert the union that would produce a son for the goddess. Śambhu depositing his brilliance, which had been held for a long time, into Fire for the satisfaction of the gods. Pārvatī's intense fury over the disruption of the great amorous dalliance. Her throwing of an ear-lotus in anger at Nandin. From that, the arising of the Bhadrotpala lake near Svarṇaśṛṅga. Pārvatī's curse upon the deities. Pārvatī's residence there under the name Kaiṭabhā. The greatness of Ramaṇaśilā; the gods' report to Śaṅkara of Andhaka's undertaking of austerities. The consolation of the gods by Śaṃkara; the discharge of Śiva's brilliance into the reed-thicket by the gods at Śaṃkara's command. Everything there turning to gold through its power.
