nandyupākhyānārambhaḥ, śilādasya putrārthaṃ tapaścaryā . śilādakṛtā devadevastutiḥ, varalābhaḥ, nandina utpattiḥ . mahādevadarśanena tadanugrahalipsayā nandino gṛhānnirgamanam .

The beginning of the narrative of Nandin; the performance of austerity by Śilāda for the sake of a son. The praise of the God of gods performed by Śilāda; the attainment of a boon; the birth of Nandin. The departure of Nandin from home, desiring His grace through the darśana of Mahādeva.
