uvāca na bibhemīti bhūyo bhūyo janārdanam .
nāhaṃ vakṣye bibhemīti noktaṃ nāpyucyate mayā . .83 . .

evamuktaścakrapāṇiścyāvaniṃ134 krodhamūrcchitaḥ135 .
uvāca cakramudyamya bhayamasya vidarśayan ..84. .
evameva hi kartavyā ye bhūtvā136 balavattarāḥ .
asvāmina iva premṇā bruvate137 durbalaṃ janam138 . .85 ..

said again and again to Janārdana, “I am not afraid! / I will not say, ‘I am afraid’; it has not been said, nor will it be said by me.” / Sanatkumāra said: / Addressed thus, the discus-wielder [Viṣṇu], overwhelmed by anger toward Cyāvana's son, / raised his discus, striking fear into him, and said: / “Indeed, those must be treated thus who, having become stronger, / speak out of affection to a weak person as if they were not their master!
