Men are tortured there who indeed assault
an unwilling woman belonging to another, and also the defiler of a maiden,
the stealer of deposits, and likewise the stealer of meat,
the stealer of sap, and also whoever reviles others,
the slayer of the host of sense organs, and likewise the wearer of false marks,
the hunter of wild animals and beasts, and those who eat flesh from behind [the back of others],
those who eat meat in vain, and those who commit violence:
these vilest of men, my son, go to Yamalācala.
And when twin [children] are born, whichever vilest of men does not perform
expiation, being impure of mind, he too reaches it.
Harried by those men as described,
and cut down by weapons, he reaches that mountain.
There he is devoured by enraged tigers, śarabhas, and hyenas,
by serpents, wild cats, and birds with iron beaks.
And if, being devoured by them, he climbs a tree,
there he is pierced by sharp thorns and by birds.
Then, if he desires to go into a crevice or a cave of it,
even there, burned by fire, afflicted with pain, he turns back.
Then, if he enters into the terrible interval between the two,
there the man is pierced in both feet by fierce needles.
