sanatkumāra uvāca
yathā tu vṛṣabho devamavahanmunipuṅgava .
[Dakṣa] said: / "O ruler of the gods, let her become my daughter." // 228
Sanatkumāra said: / Saying "So be it," Umā gave that goddess as a daughter. / And saying "You are Death," he engaged her in dreadful work, // 229
the auspicious goddess, in taking away the breath of all living beings. / Appointed by Brahmā himself to perform that task, / with raised arms, along with the Lord of gods, always engaged by you and me. // 230
Whoever reads or listens to this matchless destruction of Dakṣa's sacrifice, / the establishment of Bhadreśvara, and the grace bestowed on Dakṣa, // 231
or recites it to twice-born [brahmins], / freed from all sins, is glorified in the heavenly world. // 232
To the one who cast down the eyes of Bhaga, the forest fire to Dakṣa's sacrifice, / the fire to Madana's city, whose body is radiant with the crescent moon, / the time of destruction for the sacrifice of the gods' priest, the guardian of the seven worlds— / to Śaṃkara I have gone for refuge for the sake of peace. // 233
Thus ends the thirty-second chapter, the destruction of Dakṣa's sacrifice, in the Skandapurāṇa.
Sanatkumāra said: / How the bull carried the god, O best of sages,
