yatra vā tatra vā jātaṃ15 yo nāśayati durmatiḥ .
pādapān gulmavallīrvā kṣupānatha tṛṇānyapi .. 14. .
chāyāpuṣpaphalārthaṃ hi16 svakāryakaraṇāya vā17 .
vināśayati yo mūḍhaḥ sa ca taṃ pratipadyate . .1 5..

the evil-minded one who destroys trees grown anywhere whatsoever, / or bushes, creepers, shrubs, and even grasses, (14) / the fool who destroys them for the sake of shade, flowers, or fruit, / or to accomplish his own work, he falls into that [hell]. (15)
