rājovāca:
eko vane vane kasmād bhramase pustikākaraḥ /
itaśceto nirīkṣaṃs tvaṃ kathayasva dvijottama //
The king said:
"Why are you wandering alone from forest to forest with a manuscript in hand, / looking here and there? Tell me, O best of the twice-born!"

kānyakubjāt samāyātaḥ preṣito rājakanyayā /
The brāhmaṇa said:
"I have arrived from Kānyakubja, sent by a princess."
