viṣṇudehodbhavā gaṅgā darśanāt pāpahāriṇī /
evaṃ yā saṃsthitā yasmāt tasmād eṣā sadā budhaiḥ //
the Gaṅgā born from the body of Viṣṇu, destroying sin through sight [is there]. / Because she thus abides, therefore she is always [honored] by the wise.
