atrārdhakrośamātraṃ vai brahmahatyā na saṃviśet /
somanāthaprabhāvāc ca tīrthaṃ vārāṇasīsamam //
Indeed, within the span of half a krośa here, the murder of a Brahmin cannot enter;
and by the power of Somanātha, the sacred bathing site is equal to Vārāṇasī.
