gāyatrīṃ vaiṣṇavīṃ caiva saurīṃ śaivīṃ yadṛcchayā /
so 'pi pāpaiḥ pramucyeta ity evaṃ śaṅkaro 'bravīt //

and the Gāyatrī addressed to Viṣṇu, the Sun, or Śiva as he wishes;
even he is freed from sins; thus Śaṅkara has spoken.
