samā sahasrāṇi mṛto jale hi yo vai nimagnaḥ patane ca ṣoḍaśa /
mahāhave ṣaṣṭiraśītigogṛhe tvanāśake bhārata cākṣayā gatiḥ //
A thousand years [in heaven] for one who dies drowned in water, and sixteen [thousand] for a fall; / sixty in great battle, eighty in a cattle-pen, but by fasting, O Bhārata, an imperishable destination [is won].
