sāmiṣaṃ ca śukaṃ jñātvā śyenas tatrāpi dhāvitaḥ /
hataścañcuprahāreṇa śukaḥ śyenena bhārata //
Thinking the parrot had meat, a hawk also rushed there; / and the parrot was struck by a blow of the hawk's beak, O descendant of Bharata.
