devā ūcuḥ:
eṣa tvāṃ prati saṃpraṣṭuṃ devarājaḥ śatakratuḥ //
The gods said: / ‘This Śatakratu, the king of the gods, has come to ask you.

mokṣaṇaṃ brahmahatyāyāḥ syād yathā vai tathā kuru /
Act so that there may be release from the murder of a brahmin!’
